The three-day Whisky Live Pretoria Celebration opened with a bit of Scotch pomp and bonhomie at Menyln Park Shopping Centre (Level 5 Parkade) Thursday. It attracted scores of dram fans from Pretoria and the surrounding areas. Friday and Saturday promise to be just as high-spirited.
Whisky Live Pretoria is showcasing a wide range of luxury whiskies from local to abroad – Bain’s Cape Mountain Whisky, Dewar’s, The Macallan, Bunnahabhain, Jack Daniel’s and more, visitors are certain to find a Whisky to suit their palate.

There are quite a few surprise whiskies up for tasting. While there are old favourites on offer, the little known labels have been an eye-opener – if not eye-popping pleasure. Look out for the little-known Irish offerings like Green Spot, West Cork, Epogues and enjoy their triple-distilled splendour.
At the Macallan stall, brand ambassador Nkululeko Maseko is bouyant about the new 12 year old express of the malt – which replaces the ex-sherry cask which was popular here and is now exported only to overseas only.
To enhance one’s whisky experience, look out for a special whisky glass imported from Slovenia designed to unfurl the spirit’s flavours and deliver them to the nose pristine and unadulterated by alcohol. The vibe is warm and welcoming. It was worth the visit all the way from Joburg!
The show was well-received in the Cape Town recently. Next Show takes place in Durban.
Doors open from 18h00 – 22h00. Tickets on sale at TicketPro, from R115 to R1553.
